The basic questions of research are that in what process of the people living in ancient Mesopotamia, various types of physical activity have emerged? And what functions and values have they had in the structure of society? Data of research has been collected to do desk study from archaeological, historical, and mythological sources and have been studied by the qualitative method of descriptive-analytical. Based on a holistic view of the culture, the purpose of this paper is to examine various types of physical activity in the structure of the Mesopotamian society from the Initial Urbanization to the end of the New Babylonian period. This study reveals that each of the ritual, martial and entertainment activities have protected the Mesopotamian man against all kinds of injuries, including mental-physical, and has brought him life and security. Physical activity is associated with power and religion, and the majority of them are projected into the world of the gods and the meaning of ritual physical activity is based on mythology. Myths, as the beliefs of ancient peoples, legitimized the king's martial and entertainment activities and emphasized important physical activities in the process of Mesopotamian human life, and reflected the common values of society}, keywords = {Mesopotamia,archaeological evidence,Ritual,Martial,Entertainment}, title_fa = {برهمکنش فعالیت‌های بدنی و رزمی با اسطوره‌ها و آیین‌ها در بین‌النهرین باستان}, abstract_fa = {فعالیت­بدنی نقش­مایۀ اکثر شواهد باستان­شناختی در بین­النهرین باستان است؛ امّا به درستی پدیدارشدن و کارکردها و ارزش­های فعالیت بدنی در کلیت فرهنگ بین­النهرین باستان شناخته نشده است. مسائل اساسی پژوهش این است که انواع فعالیت­های بدنی در چه روندی از زندگی مردم بین­النهرین باستان پدیدار شده­اند؟ و چه کارکردها و ارزش­هایی در ساختار جامعه داشته­اند؟ داده­های پژوهش به شیوه کتابخانه­ای از منابع باستان­شناسی، تاریخی و اساطیری گردآوری‌شده و با روش کیفی توصیفی­ـ­تحلیلی مطالعه شده­اند. هدف پژوهش این است که با نگرش کل­نگر به فرهنگ، انواع فعالیت­های بدنی در ساختار جامعه بین­النهرین که از دورۀ آغاز شهرنشینی تا پایان دورۀ بابل نو پدیدار شده­اند، تبیین گردند. برآیند پژوهش نشان می­دهد هر یک از فعالیت­های بدنی آیینی، رزمی و سرگرمی، انسان بین‌النهرینی را در برابر انواع آسیب­ها اعم از روانی- جسمانی محافظت نموده و زندگی و امنیت را برایش به ارمغان آورده است. فعالیت­های بدنی با قدرت و مذهب عجین­شده و اکثر فعالیت­های بدنی به جهان خدایان فرافکنی­شده و معنای فعالیت­های بدنی آیینی بر پایۀ اساطیر استوار گردیده است. اساطیر به عنوان باورهای مردمان باستان به فعالیت­های رزمی و سرگرمی پادشاه مشروعیت داده و به فعالیت­های بدنی پر اهمیت در روند زندگی انسان بین­النهرینی تأکید کرده­ و ارزش­های مشترک جامعه را نمایان کرده است.}, keywords_fa = {بین‌النهرین,شواهد باستان‌شناسی,آیینی,رزمی,سرگرمی}, url = {https://jhss.ut.ac.ir/article_84067.html}, eprint = {https://jhss.ut.ac.ir/article_84067_a4e032347a02c4ecca0a14d81b66d8ad.pdf} }
