Archaeological Studies Journal

The Journal of Archaeological Studies of the Faculty of Literature and Human Sciences of Tehran University is a scientific journal that is published in two issues a year.

1- General features of the article

  - The article must be the result of the author's (or authors') research.

- The article must not have been published in another journal and must not be sent to another journal until the review is completed.

- The publication of the article is subject to the final approval of the editorial board of the magazine.

- Acceptance of the article for publication will be made known to the author after the approval of the jury.

- The author (or authors) is responsible for the contents of the article.

- The magazine is free in literary and technical editing of the article without changing its content.

- The article should not exceed 28 pages, including an extended abstract and references.

- The author's full name, academic rank, university where he teaches or studies, field of study, email address and phone number of the author should be attached on a separate page.

- It is possible to submit an article only through the system of the Journal of Archaeological Studies of the University of Tehran at the address https://jarcs.ut.ac.ir. To do this, you must first register in the system through the "login to the system" option. .

  - The titles of the tables should be mentioned with the number above and the pictures, maps, plans and diagrams should be mentioned with the number (description and source) below.

2-Article components

- Title: The general name of the article that is descriptive and expresses the content of the article.

- Author's profile: including the author's name and surname, academic rank, field of study, university where he/she teaches and studies.

- Abstract: a comprehensive description of the article with limited words, including statement of the problem, purpose, research method and research findings. It should be noted that the abstract of the article should be 300-350 words.

Key words: It includes five to seven specialized words whose frequency and importance in the text of the article is more than other words.

- Introduction: It includes the main problem and the purpose of the research; In this section, research records on the subject should be briefly mentioned.

- Review method: It includes a very brief mention of the author's research method and mention of his innovations in this field.

- Discussion and conclusion and thanks: It includes the main text of the article and discussion and conclusion with a logical, useful and enlightening method of the research issue and can be accompanied by tables, pictures, diagrams, etc. At the end of this section, the author can remind the guidance of others - who have been effective in writing the article - and briefly thank them.

3- The method of setting the text

- The article should be written in B-Nazanin font, size 13, space between lines 1 (single) and in word format. Also, the distance from the top and bottom of the screen should be 3.35 cm and from the right and left, 3 cm each.

- Abstract, keywords, sources, references in parentheses, poems and any material that comes in parentheses should be written in 11 size.

- At the beginning of each paragraph, start with half a centimeter indentation; Of course, the first line under each title should not be indented.

- Direct quotations of more than three lines should be written separately from the main text, with one centimeter indentation on each side and with the same font, but with size 11.

- The sections of the article begin with section 1, which is dedicated to the introduction. The title of each main section and sub-sections should be written with a white line separated from the text and written in black (bold).

- The number of footnotes should be consecutive from the beginning to the end of the article, and excessive footnotes should be avoided.

- If the author or authors have used the financial resources of certain organizations or institutions in the preparation of the article, this should be mentioned at the end of the article.

4- How to refer to sources

- References in the article will be documented and based on sources, and efforts will be made to use the most reliable sources.

- When there are several editions available from a reference, it is preferable to use the first critical edition.

- In the case of missing and attributed works, references are made to the sources that mentioned them or gave an explanation.

4-1- Reference within the text of the article

  Surname of the author, year of publication of the work: page number or pages;

   Persian example: (Malek Shahmirzadi, 1388:54)

   Latin: (Smith 1999: 33)

4-2-final reference (sources)

4-2-1- Reference to the book

Author's last name or city name, author's name, publication date (in parentheses), book name, translator's or proofreader's name and surname, volume, edition, place of publication, name of publication (without mentioning the word "publications").

- The name of the book is written italic (Iranic); So avoid making it black (bold) or putting it in quotes.

4-2-2-refer to the article

- Surname of the author, name of the author, date of publication of the work (in parentheses), title of the article used (in quotation marks), name and surname of the proofreader or translator, main title of the encyclopedia or periodical and magazine (Iranian and without mentioning the word magazine), period or year of publication, number, number of pages of the article.

- The title of the article is placed only in quotation marks and is not italicized.

4-2-3- Reference to thesis

- Surname of the author, name of the author, year of defense (in parentheses), title of the dissertation, defended course, supervisor's name and surname, name of the university and college where the student studied.

- The name of the doctoral dissertation is written in italic (Iranian) and the title of the master's thesis is placed in quotation marks.

4-2-4- Refer to the manuscript and documents

Famous name of the author, name of the author, name of the book or written treatise or photocopy, copy number, place of storage.

- When referring to historical documents, document title, classification and access number, archive name, and for microfilms, in addition to book specifications, it is necessary to mention the microfilm number and storage location.

  4-2-5-refer to internet websites

Author's last name, author's name, date of posting on the website (in parentheses), title of article or work (in quotation marks), website's email address.

6- Other points about referring to sources

- The pronunciation of Latin names and difficult names should be mentioned in Latin letters at the bottom of the text of the article.

Any additional explanation other than referring to the sources should be mentioned in the footnote.

- If the author of the source of the work is not known, the name of the work will replace the name of the author.

Avoid numbering or placing a hyphen at the beginning of the entries in the reference list.

- The sources of the article are arranged alphabetically and based on the last name of the author; The sources mentioned at the end of the article are the same sources used in the text; Therefore, if a source is mentioned only at the end of the article, but is not referenced in the text, it will be removed from the final sources.

All Persian sources should be written in Bi Nazanin and Times Roman English fonts and should be inserted in the article with font 11, and Persian sources should be translated and placed in brackets with the word [in Persian]. At the same time, refrain from removing Persian sources.
