Abstract

،The great Jalayirid dynasty was extinct by the assassination of Sultan Ahmad, but some of the Jalayirid princes continued the rule by retreating to Khuzestan and southern Iraq. Due to the lack of data, the history of this part of the Jalayirid dynasty remains unknown; as the names of these rulers, the order and duration of their rule are still unclear. By a descriptive-analytical method, this historical study attempts to provide a clear answer to the question of what was the political structure of the Jalayirids government of Khuzestan, the name, order, and time of rule of the rulers of this family?

The findings of this study show that the rulers of the dynasty were the descendants of Sheikh Ali, who, as another branch of the Jalayirid dynasty, ruled Khuzestan and southern Iraq for two decades (814-835 AH). The rulers of this dynasty, taking advantage of Sheikh Ali's ruling in Khuzestan, the political isolation of the region, and the cautious policy of the Timurids towards the expansionism of the Qaraquyunlu, established their rule in Khuzestan and then from Basra to Hilla. The rulers of the dynasty, Mahmud, Tundi Sultan, Uwais II, and Muhammad, ruled in Khuzestan, but with the change in the policy of the Timurid court, they retreated to the southern regions of Iraq. The last ruler of the dynasty, also tried to restore the dynasty's power by strengthening his relations with the leaders of the Arab tribes, but he failed and with his assassination in 835 AH.
