Abstract
This brief note reviews a historical document dated 1233 AH, concerning Mirza Mansur Khan of Behbahan.
His father, Mirza Sultan Mohammad Khan I, had built his official residence on a piece of land of unknown ownership known as the Mir Shah Mir Garden. Later, Mirza Mansur Khan built his own governmental residence on another part of the same land. He then investigated the land’s ownership and discovered that it belonged to two families of the Sadat Tabatabaei lineage. He purchased the land from their heirs and finalized the transfer through a sale and reconciliation deed — the very document discussed here.
Mirza Mansur Khan was a member of the ruling kalantar family of Behbahan and a notable political figure in Fars during the reign of Fath-Ali Shah Qajar, also witnessing part of Mohammad Shah’s era. His daughter, Gowhar Taj Begum, married Najafqoli Mirza, son of Hossein Ali Mirza Farmanfarma. A key moment in his life occurred in 1245 AH, when Fath-Ali Shah Qajar, amid unrest in Fars, personally traveled to the region. Mirza Mansur was appointed to guide the royal entourage. This responsibility was formally assigned by a decree dated 1245 AH, bearing Farmanfarma’s seal. The document was part of Sardar Amjad Mansuri Tabatabaei’s archive and was recently donated to the Central Library of the University of Tehran
