Abstract
Local historiography in Iran experienced significant quantitative and qualitative growth during the Qajar era, undergoing a fundamental transformation in both its underlying drivers and historiographical characteristics. Consequently, Kurdish local historiography, influenced by these emerging conditions, underwent a similar evolution, much like many other regions across the country. While the Sharafnameh of Bidlisi had previously stood as the only major work dedicated to Kurdish history, the period from the beginning to the end of the Qajar era witnessed the production of numerous works in this field. Indeed, it can be argued that Kurdish local historiography truly took shape and reached its zenith during this period. Through an examination and reading of Qajar-era Kurdish local chronicles, and by employing a qualitative content analysis and descriptive method, the author seeks to address the following question: What are the indicators and components of the quantitative and qualitative growth of
Kurdish local historiography during the Qajar period? The research findings indicate that the characteristics and components of Kurdish local historiography in the Qajar era exhibit certain similarities and differences compared to the local historiography of other Iranian regions during the same period, all of which are explored in detail in this article. . . .
